Dear Applicant: We continue the search to discover and employ the most diverse group of creative talent. Annually we offer up to four spots to work full-time as feature writers, developing original content, meet with production and studio execs, participating in a speakers series, and be mentored by program Alumni and other industry greats. Fellowships will be offered in the feature film and television areas through The Disney•ABC Television Group and Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Productions. Professional quality writing samples are required. Fellows will each be provided a salary of $50,000 for a one-year period tentatively scheduled to begin in February 2009. ELIGIBILITY This Program is open to all writers who are at least eighteen years of age, US Citizens or those legally permitted to work in the United States during the entire duration of the program. Writers with Writers Guild of America (WGA, West or WGA, East) credits are also eligible for this Program. DEADLINE Applications to the program must be postmarked no later than August 8, 2008. Applications received with post marks after August 8, 2008 will be returned unread. CONTACT INFORMATION The Walt Disney Studios APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS and CHECK LIST For consideration, the application, a statement of interest (500 words or less), Writing Fellowship Program Letter Agreement, professional writing sample (with proof of current registration with Writers Guild of America, West or East and/or the Library of Congress), a work resume and autobiographical summary, must be submitted together by August 8, 2008 to contact mailing address listed above. There is no application fee. However, your program letter agreement is a legal document and must be signed and properly notarized and included with your application and submission. Please review the Writing Fellowship Guidelines for additional requirements. You are not required to send in your submission through registered or overnight mail. However, to ensure proof of mailing, you may wish to use these services since we will not confirm receipt of your application package. Finalists are expected to be notified no later than end of December 2008. No telephone calls or email inquiries please. We are not able to give creative feedback on your submission or give you information with regards to your application ranking. NO WRITING SAMPLES WILL BE RETURNED. AT THE END OF THE EVALUATION PROCESS, ALL SAMPLES WILL BE DESTROYED.
FEATURE WRITING FELLOWSHIP GUIDELINES
Appropriate writing samples for the feature film division include: a live-action motion picture screenplay (no longer than 120 pages) or one (1) play, up to three acts. Unacceptable materials for feature film include: treatments, outlines, short stories, poems, books, magazine/newspaper articles, audio/video tapes, drawings, or scripts adapted from other material not indicative of writing for film (such as a novel). We do not accept feature animation, musicals of any kind, sequels to motion pictures, or original television pilots. Open, print, complete and sign the two pdf forms listed below. The Check List pdf does not need to be signed.
